The
Department
of
International
Relations
of the
Belarusian State Academy of Music was created over 10
years ago.
A
wide range of
international
activity
at
the
Academy
substantially
contributes to
the
development
of the
professional
skills
of
its students, while serving
to
help
resolve
the important problem of integration
of national
professional
music
education
systems
within
a global context.
The
primary goals of the Department are:
-
To assist the development of partnerships with
other educational and cultural
institutions,
promoting
cooperative programs
in
scientific and educational areas of the arts;
-
To participate in international programs and
projects;
-
To assist the Administration of the Academy with
the hosting of a number of
international
music
competitions,
conferences,
symposia
and
seminars;
-
To work with foreign students;
-
To work with international specialists invited to
the Academy to provide master-classes, concerts and lectures;
-
To
keep
students
and
faculty
of
the
Academy
informed
about
opportunities
to participate in international
competitions,
master-classes,
summer
schools,
conferences
and
seminars.
The Department
of
International
Relations
is overseen by
Prorector for
Scientific Work
and is managed by
the
Chief
of the Department, Dr. Elena Gorokhovik.
Department staff include Senior
Specialist
in
working
with
foreign
students
Liubov Khmelevskaya;
Executive Secretary
Ekaterina Shtaida and
others.
The
Belarusian State
Academy
of
Music
collaborates
with
conservatories,
academies
and
higher
music
schools
in
Russia,
Lithuania,
Estonia,
Poland,
China.
The
Academy
also
works
closely
with
a number of international music organizations: ÀÅÑ (Association
Européen
des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique); ÅÐÒÀ (European Piano Teachers Association);
ÑWA
(Cimbalom
World Association). Information about the Belarusian Academy of Music
can
be found in a number of authoritative European and World
volumes
on music,
including
the Cambridge International Biographical Dictionary
and the International
Handbook
of
Universities
(published
in France).
The
Belarusian State
Academy
of
Music
was
also instrumental in the foundation of
the
Belarusian Association
of
Piano
Teachers (BEL
EPTA,
president –
professor
V. Yakoniuk).
Professor’s and teacher’s staff of the Academy
is
annually
represented
at the numerous international conferences, that
has an
important
meaning for international recognition of
Belarusian schools of musicology,
performing
arts and education. Great importance for Academy’s international recognition
has also the participation of our students in
international competitions, academies, summer schools, etc.
The
Belarusian State Academy of Music also provides a tuition for foreign undergraduate
students, master’s degree students, postgraduates from
Belgium, China,
Israel, Jordan,
Mexico,
Poland, Spain,
Turkey.
