RULES OF MATRICULATION TO THE BELARUSIAN STATE ACADEMY OF MUSIC IN 2007

1. Matriculation to the Belarusian State Academy of Music (hereinafter – the Academy of Music) is made on the condition of full-time attendance.

2. The entrants shall take the following examinations: "Belarusian or Russian language (to the choice of the entrant)," "History of Belarus" (both exams are assessed by the outcomes of mandatory centralized testing*), and "Creativity".

3. The examination "Creativity" comprises 3 steps, each of them is appreciated by a separate 10-point mark, as follows: performance of a programme (all specialities, except for specialities "Composition" and "Musicology"); performance of the entrant's own works (speciality "Composition"); musical literature (speciality "Musicology"); harmony (all specialities, except for speciality "Singing"); elementary theory of music (speciality "Singing"); solfeggio (all specialities).

The steps of the creativity examination "harmony," "solfeggio" and "elementary theory of music" comprise two parts – a written and oral ones, each of them is appreciated by a separate 10-point mark. The sum of contest points includes a total mark of the examination step, which is awarded on the basis of respective criteria approved by the Admission Commission of the Academy of Music.

4. The contest is held separately by the following specialities and directions in conformity with the number of places allocated by the Admission Commission for each particular speciality or direction:

• Composition (Preparatory Department)

• Musicology

• Contrabass

• Singing (Preparatory Department)

5. Admission to the Preparatory Department of specialities "Singing" and "Composition" is made in conformity with the "Admission Requirements for Special Disciplines for Entrants to the Belarusian Academy of Music," approved by the Admission Commission of the Belarusian State Academy of Music. The entrants shall take the following examinations: "Belarusian or Russian language (to the choice of the entrant)," "History of Belarus" (both exams are assessed by the outcomes of mandatory centralized testing*), and "Creativity."

The examination "Creativity" for the entrants to the Preparatory Department of speciality "Composition" comprises one step – performance of the entrant's own works (one 10-point mark).

 The examination "Creativity" for the entrants to the Preparatory Department of speciality "Singing" comprises two steps (rounds): the first one – in the class, the second one – in the concert hall, each of them is appreciated by a separate 10-point mark.

6. The Pedagogical Department of the Academy of Music in the city of Mogilyov makes matriculation to the following specialities and directions: choir conducting, pianoforte, string bow-instruments (violin, viola, violoncello), wind instruments (flute, oboe, clarinet, trombone, percussion instruments, bayan-accordion, string folk plucked-percussion instruments (domra, balalaika, cimbalom). The contest is held separately for the following specialities and directions in conformity with the number of places allocated by the Admission Commission for each particular speciality or direction:

• Choir conducting

• Pianoforte

• String bow-instruments (by directions) – general contest

• Wind instruments (by directions), percussion instruments – general contest

• Bayan-accordion, string folk plucked-percussion instruments (by directions)

Matriculation and admission to the Division Branches of the Academy of Music on the basis of the R.R. Shyrma Brest State Musical College, I.I. Sollertinskiy Vitebsk State Musical School, N.F. Sokolovskiy Gomel State College of Arts and Grodno State Musical School are made to the following specialities and directions in conformity with the control numbers of places:

• Pianoforte

• String bow-instruments (by directions) – general contest
