The Department of Advanced Vocational Training of specialists in the field of musical education is operating from 1976. The Department is used for improvement of their skills by teachers of special secondary educational institutions in the following directions: instrument performance (piano, string, wind, percussion and folk instruments), singing, conducting (both orchestral and choral), musicology, composition. The aims and tasks of the professional advanced vocational training are as follows: expansion of the educational thesaurus in the field of musical culture, arts and education; development of creative potentials and professional motivation of each listener; differentiation of education; mastering of modern musical-pedagogical technologies and methods; learning of national cultural traditions. The training and educational process is carried out within the system of institutional (specifically organised) post-diploma professional advanced training of musical teachers. The main functions of the system of post-diploma vocational training have been defined: educational, creative (performance), scientific-research, professional (musical-pedagogical), cultural-scientific, general-educational. The forms of professional skill improvement are as follows: session, inter-session training, self-training, probation training. The contents of the non-stop musical education is comprised of the following levels: musical-educational, psychology-educational, professional (musical-pedagogical), creative (performance).
